Description
The Belbin Process
- The process will kick off with a call with a Belbin facilitator during which we will establish your team building goals and desired outcomes and go through some very basic administrative set up requirements.
- Each team member will complete a Self-Perception Inventory (SPI) from the comfort of their own home or office – which takes 20 minutes online.
- On completion, each member will be asked to select between four and eight colleagues, associates or team members to complete what we refer to as an ‘Observer Assessment’ (OA).
- SPI and OA results are combined to produce each individual’s 360° Belbin® Team Role Profile – an eight-page personal report (see sample report) that offers advice and guidance on how an individual might work best, communicate their preferences to others and cultivate their talents and strengths.
- The Belbin Administration System will also produce a Belbin® Team Report that explores the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and risks for each team.
The Belbin® Team Feedback Session
On the day of your Event Square/Belbin event, we will present the results of your Belbin Team Report and illustrate how the roles and behaviours that we naturally perform best and worst can make a huge difference to our own productivity and our interactions with others.
This face-to-face session will focus on how a team becomes effective when;
- Team members understand their own strengths and weaknesses and the strengths and weaknesses of their team members
- All nine Team Roles are represented within the Team
- How to exploit the team’s strengths and contain its weaknesses
Belbin Team Feedback and 1:1 sessions are also available online. Please see the Belbin Virtual Experience for more details.
Belbin Team Reports:
Individual profiles are analysed as a collective through a Belbin Team Report. This explores the strengths, ‘allowable’ weaknesses, opportunities and risks for team performance improvement.
In a nutshell, Belbin Team Role Profiles will give you:
- Self-aware individuals who can adapt their behaviours according to the situation and business need
- Balanced teams based on behavioural contributions rather than job titles
- The right people doing the right tasks, leading to better-performing teams
- Depersonalised team conversations, using a common language to discuss team contributions
- Informed, impartial decision-making, based on fact rather than a ‘gut-feel’ which may be subject to unconscious bias
- Confidence when making decisions involving people
- Insight into behavioural strengths and weaknesses which aren’t necessarily revealed by a CV
- The language to help facilitate coaching conversations
Groups that can benefit from The Belbin Experience include:
- Graduates/Onboarding
- Teams requiring Conflict Resolution
- Teams looking to transform into High Performance Teams
- Teams aspiring to improve Communication
- Leaders/Senior Management
Schedule for the Workshop:
The workshop will be structured according to you team’s bespoke needs. A typical workshop kicks off with an introductory briefing followed by 6-8 short experiential team tasks, finishing with a pre-lunch debrief. The afternoon programme combines classroom learning with outdoor challenges for the team.
- Outdoor Activities
The aim of these activities is to apply and embed the teambuilding concepts learned in the classroom. Delegates will be given the opportunity to immerse themselves in practical teambuilding tasks and experience how our concepts apply to real-life challenges.
